The Cushman Street Bridge: The 2012 Yukon Quest Start.

The 2012 Yukon Quest will begin and end at the Cushman Street Bridge, which is located at the intersection of Cushman Street and First Ave.

The 2012 Yukon Quest will begin in Fairbanks and end in Whitehorse.

The Fairbanks Visitor Log Cabin is located near the bridge overlooking the Chena River. It plays hosts as the Arctic Amateur Radio Club/KL7KC base of communications. From here Amateur Radio Operators handle telephone, fax, emergency communications and radio traffic along the entire length of the trails.

The AARC members provide “real time” musher positions – updating the Yukon Quest web site within minutes of receiving updated information from field observational posts.

Nordale Road: Yukon Quest Viewpoint.

From Fairbanks - proceed 7 miles north on the New Steese Highway towards Fox. Take the turnoff onto Chena Hot Springs Road, heading east on Chena Hot Springs Road until mile 6.2 where you will see the Nordale Road turnoff on the right.

Turn right onto Nordale Road and proceed approximately 2.3 miles where you will see the Chena River Boat Ramp, which serves as a viewpoint for the Yukon Quest.

Method 2:

From Fairbanks - proceed 10.4 miles south, heading towards the city of North Pole. At the Badger overpass, take the off-ramp and turn left, heading onto Badger Road. Continue on Badger Road for approximately 5 miles where you will see the Nordale Road turnoff located on the left. Turn left onto Nordale Road. After 3.6 miles, you will see the Chena River Boat Ramp on the right, which serves as a viewpoint the Yukon Quest.

Valley Center: Yukon Quest Viewpoint

From Fairbanks - proceed 7 miles north on the New Steese Highway towards Fox. Take the turnoff onto Chena Hot Springs Road, heading east on Chena Hot Springs Road to mile 17.1 where you will see the Valley Center main complex on the right. Turn right into the Valley Center and proceed to the large turn-around located adjacent to the center. This is the Official Valley Center viewpoint for Yukon Quest.

Method 2:

From Fairbanks - proceed 10.4 miles south, heading towards the city of North Pole. At the new overpass, take the Badger Road off-ramp and turn left, heading onto Badger Road. Continue on Badger for approximately 5 miles where you will see the Nordale Road turnoff located on the left. Turn left onto Nordale Road. After proceeding 5.7 miles, you will intersect Chena Hot Springs Road. Take a right and continue east on Chena Hot Springs Road for another 10.9 miles until you see the Valley Center main complex.

Mile 53: Yukon Quest Check Point/Viewpoint

From Fairbanks - proceed 7 miles north on the New Steese Highway towards Fox. Take the turnoff onto Chena Hot Springs Road, heading east on Chena Hot Springs Road to mile 53 where you will see the Gravel Pit with the main Quest Check Point.

Method 2:

From Fairbanks - proceed 10.4 miles south, heading towards the city of North Pole. At the new overpass, take the Badger Road off-ramp and turn left, heading onto Badger Road. Continue on Badger for approximately 5 miles where you will see the Nordale Road turnoff located on the left. Turn left onto Nordale Road. After proceeding 6 miles, you will intersect Chena Hot Springs Road. Take a right and continue east on Chena Hot Springs Road for another 53 miles until you see the Gravel Pit with the main Quest Check Point.
