Reindeer Mountian (63N24.37', 148W51.17', elevation 975 meters)
near Cantwell MP 210 Parks Highway
Installed 26 August 1995 by KL7XO, NL7XH, KL7YX & (AL7FQ in sprit, at least his 4-wheeler was there)
Reindeer2 Reindeer3 Left: Site and mode of transportation. Over 100 MPH winds are expected here.

Right: is installation of two custom reinforced Cushcraft 225WB, 15 element 223 MHz yagis.
The center portion of the boom was strenghtened by a concentric peice of tubing. To the 10' booms, a third concentric 8' aluminum tubing was inserted. All bolts were replaced by longer stainless ones, nylon inserted nuts replaced the standard nuts.

Reindeer 4 Reindeer 5 Left: NL7HX and KL7XO securing the 18.5 dBd gain array

Right: sighting down the left yagi into Nenana Canyon. The -26dB obstruction in the far distance (25 km) is Mt. Fellows

10dB for 90% reliablity
20dB for 99% reliablity
30dB for 99.9% reliablity
40dB for 99.99% reliablity

* There is no published gain for the AEA Isopole antenna. A reasonable estimate would be 3db more than a dipole. This is 5.15 dbi

** The catalog spec for the Cushcraft 225WB is 15.5dbd, two stacked adds 3 db, converting to dbi adds 2.15 db; total 20.60 dBi this should be considered generous. Another estimate of gain of a 2.2 wavelength antenna is about 14.4dbi from NBS measurments (Yagi Antenna Design by Dr James L. Lawson, p1-22, table 1.5). Two stacked would yield only 17.4 dBi

*** This estimate is high by about 3dB (see ** above).
